cartilage as in your ear right? i had mine done aaages ago.. when i was about 11 actually! it didn't hurt at all. that is, if you go to the right place! you should research places that pierce in your area and see if they're legit or not.. and i got it done again when i was about 13 i think (i have two in the cartilaginous area). didn't hurt much again. it stings a bit i guess when they pierce it but only for like that second.

i have my navel pierced and that didn't hurt at all- maybe because the guy piercing it had the clamp on my stomach longer than expected coz he kept dropping the damned stud ball so i guess it kinda numbed my navel haha. :)

it depends on where you go. If you pierce the cartlidge try a tattoo studio. the difference between their machine and one at a normal ear pericing place is obvious. at a normal place their machine just "pokes" a hole through the cartlidge which is basically like what happens when you take a pencil and punch through a piece of paper. the part where you punched through (the front) is smooth, but when you flip it over and look at the back it's got those little "hills" where the paper just ripped. A tattoo studio actually has a machine that punches the cartlidge out, much like a hole punch. It leave a clean smooth hole which heals quicker and better. i mad ethe mistake of gettig it done at a regular plac eand it NEVER healed right. I was getting infections in it left and right no matter what i cleaned it with. Finally after a year I went to a friend who works in a tat studio and she squeezed the back of my ear and the ripped cartlidge that wouldn't pop out when the normal gun did it, popped out. We then let it heal for about 6 months and she used her tools to repierce it and i have a nice clean peirce and it no longer gets infected. The part that hurts most about it is the next few days after it's really really sore and if you catch it on like a sweater or brush or soemthign it hurts like hell. also it will hurt if you lseep on that side. I had to condition myself to sleep on the opposite side or not turn my head while sleeping, caus eit will wake you up if you turn onto it! other than that it didn't/doesn't hurt. Takes a few weeks to heal , but I've had mine now for roughly 4 years and have no prblems with it

no!
it doesnt really hurt
its kinda like a sting
but its not bad
i have had my nose and
my ears done all the way up on both sides
the top of the ear is the worse tho
take tylenol before going if you think its gonna be real bad
it helps with the pain
and just make sure you clean it everyday
so it doesnt get infected

it doesnt hurt that much.
its worse than getting your ears peirced,
but its bearable.

the healing process is worse than the actual piercing.
because it takes so long to heal,
[anywhere from 8 months to over a year.]

but i think you should do it.
