I think what the white kid did was wrong, but that it is worse for six kids to beat the **** out of another kid, no matter what he did. I think attempted murder is too harsh of a sentence, but the charges should not be dropped. I am not racist, I would feel the same way if a bunch of white kids beat up a black kid.

If the races in this trial were reversed do you honestly think that the white kids that beat up the black kid would have even the slightest chance of getting the charges dropped and have large rallies everywhere.

I think everyone has forgotten that these kids almost killed that kid beating him almost to death. It was really just luck that he did not die. There is plenty of racism out there but it is a mistake to hold these kids up as heros. They may have been outraged by the act of some kids who left a noose but like it or not there is free speech in this country and even the most ignorant person can express themselves. Beating someone almost to death is not the answer though and these kids are anything but heros.
What do you think would have happened if these were white kids that beat a black kid. I think we all know that not only would they be charged as adults but this would be charged as a hate crime. Why have these kid not been charged with a hate crime? You know that this kid was targeted because he was white.
You see incidences of racism everyday and places where these protest would be more appropriate but defending these kids who would be killer if their victim had not been lucky enough to survive is not a good choice.

my take on it is that the hate charges need to be dropped as it was a group that was corced into doing the action, it was attemepted murder, but the other kids attacking were probably mentally coarced into doing so thus the charges should be lessened. Also if I recall The white kid was enticing a fight, and thus The charges should be lessened even more, are they innocent, no. the white kid got what he deserved in that innitial confrontation,. If I went up and started mouthing off to a group of people I should expect to gfet beat wether its racist or not. The jena 6 should get no specail privilages just because they are "minorities" but on that same merit, they are legal citizens commiting an illegal act.

The six who beat up the white kid should be charged to the full extent possible. One of the reasons they do things like this is because they know they can get away with it just because they are black. Hanging a rope in a tree is not a crime, not at all, but beating someone is assault and battery.

If the situation had been reversed there would have been no marches and protests by white people to free a bunch of thugs. Only black people come out in support of criminals. It's a double standard and again, they know they can get away with it just because they are black. You would never see a white protest march in support of a gang of white thugs, never.

Some might not like this assessment, but it is true, and the Jena events prove it.

The case is not what the boys did, or who did what to who, it is what the law said. Black or white is not the real issue.

Crime have become a problem, and teens have caused or have been exploited because of their age.

Our laws have been adjusted to close loop holes in defining what or who is an adult
This case just happen to involve a black teen who has had a past history with the law and who fell into that age group, that defined him as an adult.

Result higher bail.

The real story was the protest of the law, not about race.

But the rescue had to be made about race, to protest the laws effect.
They had to take the man out of the boy, to get him back into a lower court, and race was all they had.

If the Students had been smarter they could have filed a law suit for Public Harassment by the school for allowing it. against the country for failing to supervisor the school. aggainst all the teachers for failing to stop that behavior.
They could have walked away as millioniares and taught the town a lesson. Instead they acted out and let the county, school and city insurance companies off the hook.

I feel that anyone who commits a violent act towards another human being should be punished, I am not a prosecuter so I dont know how they come with what they decide to charge defendents with, but they should be punished, maybe not for attempted murder but for what they did. And I agree it doesnt matter what color your skin is, you commit a crime, you should be punished for it.
