It is an hormonal issue. I got pregnant when I was taking birth control pills (surprise!). I did not know I was pregnant until I was 17 weeks along. I had 2 completely normal periods followed by a lighter and shorter than normal period before I went to my doctor for my yearly physical and found out I was pregnant. The periods continued because of the hormones in the Pill. Some women do have period like bleeding throughout their pregnancy and this is also due to hormonal changes in your body.

Okay, if you're in fact pregnant, then it's not an actual period due to ovulation. Is the "period" irregular or last less time than normal??

Here's the scoop:
Bleeding during pregnancy is either cervical or placental.

If it's cervical, it means that the actual cervix is bleeding. This is common, as the cervix is hyper-sensitive due to pregnancy hormones. It's usually caused by irritation and contact with the cervix (or strenuous activity)... the most common cause is having sex. There's no risk to you or the baby.

If it's placental, it means the actual placenta is bleeding. The causes are numerous, but the most common cause is detachment of the placenta from the uterine wall. There is a one in three chance of miscarriage here.

Good luck.... just check into it with your doctor. If it lasts for more than a day, is BRIGHT red and/or heavy, and if it fills two pads or more, go to the ER.

During implantation of the fertilized egg, there could be light bleeding, but at 7 weeks this event should have already passed. Other than this, any bleeding during a pregnancy is not normal, so you should have yourself checked by your ob-gyn immediately.

I've heard that it is possible to still get your period while you're pregnant. It's supposed to be really rare though. I don't know why it happens though. You should ask your doctor.

a period is a womans body of shedding the cells necessary to create a child...when pregnant, you NEED those cells to create your child, so you dont get a period.

since you are getting a period, I highly recommend that you talk to your doctor about this!

I was always under the impression you couldnt/dont get your period when your pregnant. Are you positive your still pregnant, could it be a sign of miscarriage?

Have you spoken to your doctor yet?
I would do so imediately.

I have had people tell me they had very light spotting at times but never a regular period.

Good luck!
