I had a burning smell and then the fan heater was staying on even when the knob was on position 0.
I took it to local garage who needs to strip the cover to diagnose which heater part is faulty. For safety and stop the smell he has disconnected the connectors to the heating system.
My car is 03 Nissan Almera. Will any heating part is covered under warranty or safety recall? How dangerious was this problem, could the car have caught on fire.
Thanks

Almera Is Maxima In the USA. Twice in Maxima I have seen something craw into the blower motor and cause to much current draw enough so to short the motor speed controler. Once the fan it self was drawing 12 amps wear on the bushings. In Texas USA we use A/C 9 to 10 months a year. In Europe you use window defog and heater. ANd some rare hot days kick the A/C in. Both the parts are held in with #2 philips screws gold colored. just below the glove box. The blower motor assembly is held to the fresh air case with three screws and the motor speed control (amplifiler) two screws right next to each other screws in vertically. Just see if your extended warranty is Nissan Gold Plan then it is free. 5 model years and two body styles old you still have a very nice machine. Go to the Nissan dealer check warranty if not a covered part. (bugger) then pick up both blower motor and motor speed controler and install them yourself. Great nose!
