Oh wait. im ranting again.. well back the the question..... go for it!

Great question, Chris!

Here's my list:

1. The 1980s Edmonton Oilers. This is the team that turned me on to hockey. There will never be a team so stunningly talented as this squad.

2. The Pittsburgh Penguins picking first overall in 1984 and 2005. How many teams can be lucky enough to select two franchise players with number one picks?

3. Hockey Night In Canada. Let the NFL fans have their overhyped game on Sunday. Us hockey fans will have our fun with Saturday, thank you (it does kind of kill "Naked Date Night", but you win some, you lose some...)

4. January 26, 1961, March 31, 1928, and October 5, 1965. On these dates, the four greatest hockey players were born (respectively: Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Patrick Roy, and Mario Lemieux).

5. Every opening night in the NHL the past 90 years. Everyone's team starts out with so much promise and hope...

Not a chance. The game is faster and the players are bigger. He'd get killed unless the other four skaters and the goalie were guys like Dave cementhead. All of todays players emulated his amount of time on the ice as kids . The players today are closer to Gretzky's skill level than players back then. He'd be a star but forget 200 point seasons and long point streaks. And 50 in 39? Hardy har har.

I got a big kick out of Trevilofv skating the length of the ice to pummel Garth Snow.

But seriously, the Red White and Blue ribbons after 9/11 were nice. Once in a while they get a Military band to come do the Star Spangled Banner that's nice too.

Believe it or not, the Blue Jackets' fans do have some highlights:

1) Getting a franchise in Columbus, Ohio
2) Dec. 26 vs. Chicago - Nickolai Zherdev goes coast to coast in the last minute of regulation to tie the game. CBJ win in OT.
3) Jan. 5 at Anaheim - Ducks lead 3-0 with 12 minutes left. CBJ win 4-3!
4) Doug MacClean gets fired.

The handshakes at the end of each playoff series.
The actual Stanley Cup.
The fact guys in fights try to pull sweaters over each other's heads.
Bobby Orr and no one being able to take the puck off him.
Alexander Ovechkin barreling down the wing and running over than D guy.
The class of Jean Beliveau and Jean Ratelle.
The lunacy of Ron Hextall.
The Pittsburgh Penguins tradition of big numbers (87 Crosby, 66 Mario, 92 Tocchet, 55 Murphy, 71 Malkin, etc.)

The Chicago Blackhawks uniforms!

I think Lemieux's comeback was a great moment for the NHL. It was one of the greatest. Just that photo of 66 stepping onto the ice, oh man that is freaking awesome!

BTW, yeah Chris, I know how you feel, I have history too, US history, it's soooo damn boring. I hope I do well on my test, I haven't really been paying attention in class, lol.

Gary R: 4 thumbs down in 55 seconds! I do believe we have a new record, lmao!

Gary R: Just goes to show you, don't get inbetween hockey-starved fans and hockey, it's like being inbetween a school of piranhas and a cow crossing a river, lmao!

I always like seeing the players taking time out for sick (okay, fine, DYING if you want to be PC) kids. Believe it or not, even five minutes with a local NHL player (notice how I didn't say star) would really help those kids.

Oh, and I gave Gary R a pity thumbs up. The guy was trying to be funny but failed miserably.

Mike, here's another analogy. People in weight loss in front of a buffet. Or me in front of a buffet! When the hell is that pizza going to show up?!
