I have used slick 50 and prolong and they both will increase your fuel mileage, the first time I used it in a 60,000 mile car the idle increased 200 Rpm. in park so it shows you that it is lubricating something better.

neither one. Why? Because all engine additives are junk. They make crazy claims and even some of the things they say they do, regular engine oil does the same thing. Most additives are basically a SAE 30 weight oil with some crap that they put in there and say it does this and that. Truth is they don't work. Just keep the oil full and change it on a regular basis and you should be fine. 2 main things cause engine failure. 1- lack of maintenance (oil changes, air filters, fuel injection cleaners and things like that). 2- Antifreeze or some other liquid that shouldn't flow freely in the crank case does. If you have a bad head gasket or intake gasket and antifreeze gets into the motor it can be devastating. So in all said don't waste your time or money on marvel mystery oil and just get the oil changed every 3-5k miles and keep a clean air filter, fuel filter and keep the coolant and trany fluid changed and you will be fine.

VW recommends synthetic oil for this engine. You have a five valve per cylinder and a turbocharger in a very sophisticated engine, don't experiment. Personally I would never use either in anything I own. Edit: Consumers report did a test on these additives, they put them in a bunch of NY taxicabs, measured wear every 6000 miles. Conclusion, synthetic oil alone lowered engine wear, additives made no difference or increased engine wear. SAE, paper on slick 50 argued that there is no evidence that Teflon in the product will form any kind of a film or even lay down flat against the metal surface, in fact that the teflon particles were more likely to remain perpendicular and increase engine wear. Dura lube will make your oil more acidic, accelerating corrosion, etc, etc.

Dura Lube

Neither..Slick 50 is just 50 weight oil with some graphite in... not worth 30.00 and can plug up your oil filter in very cold weather. DuraLube is similiar.
I always recommend a GM product called Engine Oil Supplement which most GM dealers carry in their parts dept....much better product. If you're burning oil or have low oil pressure, nothing in a can is going to solve the problem for very long. I use to use EOS when I did oil changes on my older cars for a little more protection.

if they were worth a crap don t you think that every new 30 thousand dollar car that came off of the assembly line would have it already added, and by the way most manufacturers will void your warranty if they know you ve added anything except motor oil to the engine

None. It's all snake-oil and this has been proven in court. I can't believe they still sell the crap. But then, you know what they say about suckers...
