I met my husband online, we lived at that time 2300 miles apart. We talked everyday that we could, online and on the phone. We wrote letters, and built are relationship based on that. That was in April of 2001 he came to visit me in November of 2001 for 2 weeks when he proposed and I got prepared to move. I moved in with his grandparents in December of 2001 and we were married in January of 2002 and we of course move in together.

Long distance relationships can work, like every other relationship it takes love, hard work, dedication, honesty and communication. My husband and I will celebrate our 6 year anniversary in January and I couldn't imagine my life any other way.

We just recently bought our first home, are both successful college students, he works full time and we are now trying to start having children.

Being in this situation myself does present some unique challenges. I can honestly say that if custody situations were not an issue with me that I would probably be starting a whole new life with a completely amazing woman...for now though it's one incredible day after another! I really do like hearing about the ones that have worked alot better than the ones that haven't..good night

I would try to make it work. Maybe set a time limit of when you two could live in the same state. And if it just seems like nothing is progressing then move on.

Don't listen to the people that say it won't work first of all. It will work out if you want it to. I am in a similar situation, my man is a trucker and gone ALOT of the time. Let me tell you right off the bat, both of you are going to wonder what the other is doing. But I have learned that keeping eachother updated on whats happening in our lives really helps. There is texting, phone calls, and email. We argue, but him being away makes us want to resolve it even more. Plus I make sure not to do anything to make him wonder or doubt me. Good Luck!

It all depends on how you ended up in a different state. I always thought a long distance relationship will never last, unless one of you relocated. Wish you luck if this is your true love... I for one couldn't see myself far from my love.

Telephone and email a couple of times a day.

Visit each other at least twice a month.

Be prepared for the inevitable.

You move to another state to be with him, have him move to your state to be with you, or find someone closer to home.
