Whenever I read a video game message board some people seem to favor what a game review says instead of making their own opinion. Also there are some who play a game no matter what a review says (like myself). Why do some video game players rely on them so much?

I may use a review to give me an idea of a game I'd like. I'll usually rent it first, though, and make up my own mind. I find I agree with a lot of IGN reviews, so if they rate a game an 8 or better, I'll give it a rent. I also tend to buy games by game publishers I like, and their games tend to be consistently good (for example Square-Enix, Level-5, Insomniac, Capcom). So I'll typically buy a Final Fantasy game no matter what kind of reviews it got. I do wish I'd listened to the reviews for Final Fantasy 7 - Dirge of Cerberus, what a crappy game that was!

Well I am a big PC gamer type of person and I think reviews are much more helpful for that platform than any console. PC games tend to be buggy or shipped before really being finished and a review is the best way to find out how polished the game will be. Also, with how expensive games are it is best to get someone else's take, especially if you have grown to trust their judgment. I particularly like gamespot.com or pc gamer magazine. I don't let the review dictate to me but it is a good way to get a feel for a game when you don't want to waste money on buying or renting.

Because some of them purchase the game with real money. Reviews don't guarantee you'll like a game, but a really bad review might save you from buying a game and only then finding out you don't like it. I'd recommend renting any game before buying, so you're only out a few bucks if it really stinks, regardless of the review.

i dont rely on reviews. because some reviews of my favorite games are terrible. If a game looks like fun i buy it. But i think the people are too cheap to buy games that other people dont like. Its so dumb. Like i said, if a game looks like fun, Im Buying it and i dont give a Da** what the reviews say!

Because there are billions of different reviews out there. You can find people positive about a game, and people who talk negative about a game. Its like an online community, just like yahoo answers.

some people just think that if a game is reviewed or has a big hype around it it will be good, some gamers dont know or just don't want any specific games so they buy games that are reviewed well.

Like many stated most of the RPGs are the nearest to "academic." But I recognize of an excessively strategic sport, Advance Wars. It engages you into quite considering up strategic struggle strategies. There are many elements with a view to give a contribution to the choices you are making within the sport, similar to terrain, enemy function, enemy's numbers, climate, gas, and many others(x10). It is also too strengthen of a sport on your son, however considering the fact that the truth that you declare he's wise, I feel he might manage it. Also, the sport used to be made wee again in 2000, so the pix are a little dated. In my opinion despite the fact that, you should not use the gameboy to make him gain knowledge of and feature a laugh. Leapfrog does the process good performed. Not to say books! Balance his quantity of gambling with the quantity of studying. Also get him encouraged to do his schoolwork. Limit his gambling time in order that he could have time to do his homework and now have loose time. If you do not, within the close long run, he might be suffering in institution, and principal issues might come up.
