Of course it's hard to support something that you believe will only cause your child heartache, but if you want it bad enough then you have to do what you can within the confines of your mother's wishes. Take drama or theatre as an elective at school, participate in school productions. Tell your mom that if you were to become a doctor or lawyer that the skills of a performer are essential in those professions.
You can also try striking a deal with your mom. That if you keep your grades to 3.3 or better than you can participate in 2 community theatre productions per year and acting and dance classes or something like that. You have to figure something out that will make you both happy. Remember that she is your transportation and when you doa show she will have to drive you to and from all those rehearsals and that's not fun. If you can setup a carpool, or anything to help make your mom's life easier she will be grateful and see that you're being considerate of her feelings.
good luck

First off, I don't think your mom necessarily doesn't support you; getting in the acting business is tough, and no matter who you are the odds are against you. I think she doesn't want you to build up too much false hope.
That doesn't mean, however, that you can't act. Take some acting classes and even try out for a school play! Show your mom that you can really shine. And who knows? Maybe someday we'll all see your name in lights!
Before any of that, however, you should sit your mom down - when she's in a good mood, of course - and tell her about your passion for acting. I'm sure that your mom has dreams and will understand where you're coming from.

Understandably, your mother has reservations about acting as a career, not least, I suspect, because of the current bad press some of Hollywood's young actresses are causing.
Acting is a difficult career to break into, and, statistically, only a handful of the thousands of hopefuls each year, achieve success.
Many actors have to work day jobs to support their early careers. To that end, I would recommend pursuing your school work dilligently, and showing your mother that you are being responsible and understand how difficult this career path is.
In your spare time you can join drama/theater groups at school and in your local community, and pursue your acting through that route. If you have talent, you will get noticed.

As a mom I can tell you that it is very hard to support "DREAMS'". Why do you need your mom to support your dream? Do you actually mean to support you financially while you find your dream? If it is something you actually want to do stop calling it a dream and refer to it as a goal. I think you should show your mom that you can become an actress.
Good luck to you in your endeavors, I wish you the best

Tell her you will go to college and get a 4 year degree if you can major in Drama. That way you will have the degree that she thinks is important and you will work on perfecting your craft. Many people audition for other shows while in school and it is a great place to make connections!

It is not going to be easy, but here's what I recommend. you go ahead and participate in all the school, church and community plays you can. If you are outstanding, people will mention it to your mom and if you can get her to believe you really are good at it, that might do it.

audition and make it into a play or musical and invite her. let her see for herself that you're talented. and that you don't have to be Cameron Diaz or Queen Latifah to be an actress.
