Did that yellow rubber duck you're holding have anything to do with it?
I cannot believe the nastiness of some of these answers.
People just don't understand about silverfish.
Boris is a really great name for a red crab.

Silverfish eat cellulose and starch. They are also attracted to moist areas and will die if they become dehydrated. The ideal habitat for silverfish is in a stack of old boxes or books in a damp cellar.
What probably happened is the silverfish were attracted to the residual moisture in your tub, crawled in to investigate, couldn't crawl back out of the tub, and died from lack of food.
Borax or some other type of dessicant powder placed into areas where silverfish frequent (cracks under baseboards, under stacks of cardboard boxes, etc.) will dehydrate the silverfish and their eggs, breaking the life cycle.

Old age, boredom? The bath isn't the most exciting place for a silverfish. Couldn't you put a little swing or a slide in? they might be bored with just paddling.

I don't know but I wish they would all die, everytime I get home after work at night I see the odd 1 scurrying off or just sitting there thinking I didn't see it.Then I torch it with my *** lighter and bin it. Apparently they are clean insects and they don't transfer any bacteria. Horrible things though.
