I would install a mechanical gauge in the oil pressure port and see if it IS actually loosing ALL pressure. If it is, pull the oil pan back down and see what is stopping up the oil pickup tube screen. Worn bearings will not cause a complete loss of oil pressure>

Is it ticking or knocking? If not, check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge---could be the sending unit or dash gauge is bad. If it is ticking or knocking, the bearings...rod and crank...are probably really worn or spun. Could also be a leak in the oil pickup tube or screen allowing air to get sucked in with the oil.

Increased clearances at the bearings - the engine is ready to go, and I just wonder how you don't hear knock... probably got used to it, and find it normal.
