It ain't silly anymore... You can't be silly if your going to get married because there is nothing silly about getting married.. Being fun is okay but silly is not good at all.

Certainly this seems like a superficial reason to dump someone. Typically, when an excuse like this is made, there is something much deeper causing this sort of sudden break. I would be curious as to how long you were together, whether or not you have lived together (and for how long, if so) and other conditions.

If you have been together for a short time but have not lived together, perhaps she just decided you weren't her type and she wasn't really interested in more than just a fling.

If you have been together for a short time and lived together, perhaps you moved a bit too fast into the relationship and she found something out about you due to the intense contact over time.

If you have been together for a moderate amount of time (around a year or so) and do not live together, perhaps she detects a distance in you and doesn't feel like you are ready for a commitment in the future.

If you have been together for a moderate amount of time and live together, perhaps the transition of not living together to living together has caused her to note some habits you may have that she greatly dislikes - usually talking will help work this out.

If you have been together for a long time (2 years or more) and do not live together, it is probably a matter of commitment. At this point, if you have not committed, you may have lost her interest.

If you have been together for a long time and live together I would say it was probably infidelity or boredom. Definately try to get into couples counseling to figure this one out.

I hope this helps as I don't know much about your situation.

She might have cold feet...especially if the proposal was a complete suprise. She probably just used you being silly as a scapegoat for her uneasiness.

It's freaking scary! I'm 22 years old and engaged to the person I'll spend the next 60 years of my life with!! That idea alone is enough to scare the crap out of someone. Maybe you should talk to her and tell her you're serious about spending your lives together and growing together.

I've never heard of someone dumping another for being silly, therefore her dumping you in the first place was a silly thing for her to do. You're both silly.

sounds like you didn't know each other very well.

Put her behind you. If she has feeling for you she may come around and try to get to know you better.

(My husband and I both have silly times, the unexpected is the spice of all marriage... not just the silly, but the romantic, the sweet (just a touch, or squeeze while she doing dishes). You don't have to spend a lot of money (husband has NEVER bought me flowers, or candy--he get me things he knows I like, M&M toys (collectables), American Civil war things, books, a skeleton (I write horror and do a lot of forensic research) a skull, a cannon... And I think he's the sweetest guy going.)

Find yourself someone who has interests -- and they don't have to be the same as yours -- my husband is into old cars, boats, planes, and trains (see my website, About My BOB) and he has a full size suit of armor-- We Mesh.

Really? For being silly? Silly like what? I'd love to hear. I'll bet so would everyone else here. C'mon! Show of hands people. Who'd like to know what silliness this silly person could sally forth (or is that silly forth) with?

My guess pal is that no female...none...zilch...zero...dumps a guy for doing something silly once and he regrets it afterward. No...you my friend...have been diagnosed with terminal silliness. You're doomed to remain woman-less for the rest of your natural life.

Or..unless you hook up with one of the thousands of silly broads here who ask such silly questions like you do.

You make me laugh. Know what? You're silly.

Well then, count your lucky stars, because SHE'S not the one. Whoever you're with needs to accept you and love you for YOU. Better to find out before an "I do" then have her dump you after you've been married 10 years, have children, then try to get child support and alimony out of you.
Besides, Silly Rabbit, TRIX are for kids!
(Just kidding, but I couldn't resist throwing that in there.)

lucky you, thank god you found out that she didnt like silly people before you married her. well she isnt the one. now you are able to go out there in the world and find your dream girl. I say you move on and get away from this girl. if she is being immature about this, what else is she going to let you down on in the future. is she going to be there for you when you really need her. or is she going to think you are being silly. let her go and move on. find that girl that really belongs in your arms. you deserve better.

That's a pretty good reason.

Grow up, and maybe by the time the next one rolls around, you'll be more mature in the sense that you'll know when to act stupid and when to behave like a grownup.

If you have a "I refuse to grow up!" bumper sticker on your Yugo, then don't be shocked if no grownup women want you.

You are better off alone. Anyone who cannot tolerate a little silliness now and then doesn't deserve to be married.
