if you stand on a beach, how far away is the horizon - where the sea meets the sky? thanx guys

Horizon is the line where the earth's surface and the sky apparently join.Neglecting the refraction,the distance of the horizon from an observer at height 'h' is given by√(2ha) where 'a' is the earth's radius. If your height is 1.8 Metre, the horizon distance will be about 4.8 Km.
