Show me the quote...
Oh wait no one ever said it... therefore you are pulling sh!t our of your @ss... typical.
Stop generalizing people. Stop hating on people who are against the war... War is not pretty and it is not something that any of us should want to be involved in.
"phony soldiers" That's funny... I thought all people who go to war and fight and die for our country deserved our respect. At least I support our troops no matter what they say or what there opinion is. Oh and by the way just because you don't agree with what a soldier has to say doesn't make him a "phony" it makes him experienced, and he has earned his right to talk. Go to hell.

I'm a liberal. I don't cheer when I soldier dies. I see it as an unnecessary act. I know that the Administration lied about the threat posed by Iraq. We didn't finish the job in Afghanistan. And because of that the Taliban are now in control of 1/3 of the country. The newly elected government has to come over here every 3 months or so to beg for the money we promised them. The unit that was in charge of capturing OBL was disbanded. Billions of dollars are missing from Iraqi Reconstruction funds and the person in charge got promoted to the World Bank. The entire Iraqi Invasion was messed up from the get go. Every soldier that dies in Iraq is an unwarranted death.

Now, that doesn't make sense when John Kerry had been in the Vietnam war, actually served his time, VOLUNTEERED to be on a riverboat (the most dangerous job in the war), and got a purple heart. And yet he had commercials bashing him, saying he was a liar and that all of that was fake, while these ads were supporting a man that was signed up to go to war and skipped out on his duty, only to be regarded later as a hero. Oh yeah, the Democratic party has sunken so low while Republicans will do everything in their power (and even things that are not) to make sure they get what they want. Unbelievable.

After reading a few of the answers, it absolutely amazes me the length in which liberals will go to deny their own policies and agendas when they are confronted with the reality.
To those who say that the democrats don't wish that we lose this war, I can only say that your esteemed leader in congress announced publicly that we have already lost the war - and what the hell is the difference between initiating immediate withdrawal referendums and losing the war? And perhaps we should just tell the enemy when we are leaving so they can mark their victory celebration on their calendars? How about attaching pork barrel spending bills to the troop funding? And what was their main agenda during last November's campaign - aside from "hate Bush" - wasn't it a battle cry to bring all of the troops home? Do these actions really smell of victory or defeat? It's pretty self evident, isn't it?
I like to refer to these moon bats as suffering from San Francisco-itis.
I guess we will know if this agenda of total defeat is acceptable in this country in 2008.

Its sad how "conservatives" (though I'm at a loss as to what the GOP is actually conserving these days) have made soldiers their cause-du-jour, but time and time again have voted against better benefits, pay, health coverage, veterans benefits... you name it. If it was in the best interest of a soldier, you could bet on a 'con' to vote against it. Funny isn't it. Or not. And its even less funny how the american people allowed all the excuses to me made for Bush's 'military record'
If you really give a sh*t about our troops, why don't you go to http://www.soldiersangels.org/ and actually help one.

I support the troops. I don't support the war. I don't support conservative beliefs. It's that simple. I want to "lose the war", I think the Bush put us in a terrible situation and that the whole war was an idiotic idea. Weapons of mass destruction my ***. But the thing is we need to pull out of iraq as soon as we can without causing too much damage. Do you realize almost the entire world hates us because of the damn war? Do you still think it was a good idea?
Oh and by the way, thanks for calling my cousin phoney. That's great and very nice of you.

That's simple! They have invested in defeat. They had hoped they could cause us to lose the war in Iraq, by undermining international support, giving the enemy hope to fight on, make a big deal out of anything they can call an atrocity while ignoring when the enemy commits real atrocities, and cutting troop funding. They were wrong, we're winning in spite of the libs best efforts to secure our defeat, so now they have a problem.
It's NOT acceptable. I think they should be charged with treason, tried, and shot.
Cons_cant, WHAT did the general lie about? Why haven't we been losing soldiers like we did before the surge? You're an america-hating liberal moron.
Genesis, a phony soldier is someone that lies about their military service. A phony american is an american that wants us to lose, YOU.

at this point there is no winning or loosing, dont you see that. we aren't winning we are making progress theres a huge difference, we're never going to win, and even if we pull out that doesnt mean we've lost anything. this isn't a war where we can win because theres nothing for us to win, saddaam is dead, in your mind shouldnt that mean we've won. there will always be terrorists out there because there will always be someone to envy and to hate. it sucks but just as you apparently hate dems, they aren't exactly please with the fact that we bulldozed our way through their country.
its acceptable in this country because of our constitution. dont claim to be a patriot or to be proud to be an american whne you dont know basic civil liberty and free speech

They don't want to know the unbiased truth, which is what General Petraeus was there to give them.
Give them someone who never served, who tells horror stories about "hanging bodies from rafters in a mosque", and they jump with joy. Sad and pitiful, but true.
