If I do have a chemical imbalance it's not because I am gay.

Some do, no doubt, but that has nothing to do with being gay. There are no physical or genetic traits that are consistent throughout all gays and lesbians, to the exclusion of straight folk, that can be identified as a common element.

A better theory is that homosexuality is an arrested stage of social development. We tend to go through stages as we grow and mature, from a baby's self-love and self-centeredness, toddler's parental love, then affection for only others of our own sex (playground stuff, "boys are nasty!", "girls are yucky!"), then on to interaction with the opposite sex, and then to an all-embracing compassion.

The theory is that gays are stuck in the same-sex phase, being most comfortable with others of the same sex and unable to develop deep affection or physical attraction for the opposite sex.

It's just a theory, as good as any other so far. It doesn't offer any explanation as to how or why, just what.

I think that there are a wide range of simultaneously contributing factors. A chemical imbalance is one of them. I agree with "Mr.Mom" that there is a DNA flaw. I also agree with "CoolDude" that an "arrested stage of social development" plays an important role. This also ties in with my own conviction that there is a severe psychological block preventing them from bonding as they should with the opposite sex. So, if there is ever to be an treatment plan available, it will have to be customized to address varying degrees of individual causations. The thing is, most would reject a cure, even if it was handed to them for free, with a guarantee to work. Which is puzzling to me, considering they all insist that it's NOT a "choice"!

Is it true that straight people have a chemical imbalance? Sure, some do and some don't - just like everyone else. We (the LGBT community) are human beings just like the "straight" people. We aren't sick because we're LGBT. We aren't unstable because we're LGBT. We are humans who love, hurt, and live with just as much variety as everyone else.

Not as far as science has shown no --- that was one of the "explanation" blathered by lots of people some time ago -- but like the other explanations that were blathered at the time - if falls flat on examination.

Thank you for asking.

No. It is not true. Homosexualtiy is a minor personality variance that requires no further scrutiny. Much like being left handed. Not common, but rather a perfectly human trait.

Yes,it is called noassatall syndrome....

No Brother it's not just you.Hate is like a black hole, they are so dense and they destroy everything around them.It is part of conditioned therapy from birth being taught homosexuality is against Gods will and an abomination.Part of Christian oppression. So they dig and prod to annoy us to try to make us feel inferior. All it does is prove how demeaning their religion is.I get high on it.Because I know they will never know the joyous things that an open mind can bring.Hugs!

The short answer is no.

Why are you asking this question? What is the intent behind this question? I am curious because there seem to be more and more people hiding behind the internet to shield their true identity so they can spew out hatred. Could just be me.
