dy/dx = 1 / ( x+e^y)

Make x the dependent variable and y the independent variable. Then dx/dy = 1/(dy/dx) and you get a DE that is first-order linear in x. Your solution will be of the form x = f(y) and you won't be able to solve it for y in terms of x. But it's still the general solution.
