Lots of things can do that. I accidentally broke mine when I was 16. I had raging hormones back then.

Tampons don't normally break a hymen unless the hyman pretty much spanned most of the width of the vaginal opening.

You can tell if you bled when you thought you broke it. (that's what happened to me) And, you can always look in a mirror. I can't give you pics here, but sometimes you can tell from the appearance, especially soon after it was broken, if it is indeed still intact.

Some girls' hymens are torn by the trauma of birth and others are accidentally de-flowered during a diaper change. But that's pretty rare.

Some women know because they experience slight bleeding when it happens. And yes a tampon can break ur hyman BUT it doesnt mean your not a virgin anymore. Also you might have a little bit of pain downthere which totally normal HOWEVER some women dont feel anything at all because things like horseback riding or even playing sports can cause it to break

Typically a tampon will not break your hyman. However it can be broken by a lot of different things. Playing sports, doing splits, even horse back riding. About the only way to tell, is to have your OB/GYN do an exam.

A lot of things can break a hymen, hell, I've even heard some girls aren't even born with it.

A tampon, riding you bike, etc...can break it.

EDIT: Oh, and yes.
Getting your hymen broken DOES NOT mean you are no longer a virgin.
Not being a virgin anymore, means you have had sex.
Anal, vaginal, or oral.
