I am planning to reach Oakland, CA at 8:30 AM ( 2040 Telegraph Ave Oakland, CA 94612) from San Jose It is 42 miles and will need to take 880 North.

Is advisable to drive to Oakland in the morning traffic? Also location seems in downtown if I drive is there parking available nearby?
- OR -
Is BART the better option? How far is it from BART station from this loc? what is the station name where I should get down?

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

From San Jose Diridon or Downtown take VTA bus #180 to Fremont BART.

Then take BART to 19th Street Oakland, it is very close to 2040 Telegraph.

Travel time around 1h 20 min, fare about $7

VTA Ligtrail does go to many junctions with Caltrain, At Tamien, at San Jose DIRIDON, at Mountain View, and at the last stop San Fransisco. The one BART Junction is at Milbrae. Which is at about San Fransisco Airport. Since you are starting from San Jose I would recomend starting on Lightrail and switching to Caltrain. Then at Milbrae switch to Bart. Unless a Caltrain station is closer to you than a Lightrail station, then you would just switch to BART at Milbrae. ~~~I Hope This Helps~~~

I would tell you to take BART but how will you get to BART as the nearest station is in Fremont. It will take you 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get to Telegraph if you leave at 7:00am.

I would try and change the meeting time for earlier such as 7:00am or later at 10:30am.
