The 76-77 Montreal Canadiens against the 81-82 Islanders. Both teams dominated their leagues those years and the Canadiens had won 4 straight Stanley Cups before the Islanders started their run of 4 straight.

Some great matchups - like the Oiler - Habs
and LMAO Bob's right 1987 Team Canada versus 1980 US Olympic Team - wouldn't be close.
How about 1970 Bruins vs 1956 Habs

I would honestly like to see the 96-97 Wings play the current Wings, just to see how they would match up. A single game it could go any way, but I think the 96-97 team would come out ahead in a 7 game series.

Great question, Zam! I would love to see the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins play the 2006-07 Pittsburgh Penguins. Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, and Tom Barrasso in their primes with an emerging Jaromir Jagr, a young Markus Naslund, Shawn McEachern and company playing against the emerging talents of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, Ryan Whitney, and Jordan Staal. Arguably two of the most talented teams in Penguins history, this face-off would test the tactics of 1992-93 head coach Scotty Bowman against the high-powered 06-07 Pens. A treat to be sure!

I would love to see the 1966-67 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the current 2007-2008 Toronto Maple Leafs team. Why? To show the current guys a few things on how to win the Stanley Cup (of course)!

The 1955-1960 Montreal Canadiens against the 1984-88 Edmonton Oilers.
There is nothing more I would like to see than Gretzky and company try to ply their offence against Montreal's defence. There is no doubt in my mind that Montreal would score a ton of goals against Edmonton, but the Montreal defence never saw a team employ Edmonton's explosive offense. It would be interesting to see how they would stop it (if they could)

1983-84 Edmonton Oilers vs. 1975-76 Montreal Canadiens.
Simply because I think they are the best teams that I have been witness to. The emphasis is on witness. I'm sure there are plenty of great teams throughout the history of hockey, but sadly, I never seen them play.

The mid 70's flyers against the mid 80's oilers. It would be interesting to see if the skill of the Oilers could overcome the grit and intimidation of those Flyer teams. I think the Oilers would have won but......
Other interesting ones would be the late 70's Habs against those same Oilers and Oilers against Red Army.
