Well, being a mother of three kids, I also experienced what I fondly call "D.E.A.N." (Drop Everything And Nap). When you have kids, you gradually become more tired as the days go on. The kids probably wear you down so much you revert to child-like behaviors and take an afternoon nap. Whatever you do, don't worry. Try this:
If your husband doesn't do much of the work with the kids, ask him to do their nightly routine while you go to sleep early.
Let me know if it works!

Its just part of being pregnant. I do the same thing...between 2:30 and 3:30 every day I just can not keep my eyes open. And if I allow myself to fall asleep I will sleep until 6/7 at night and then be restless ALL night long because my body isn't tired but my mind is. My doctor says its just part of being pregnant. Remember that not only is every woman different but every pregnancy in itself is different. While a woman might not experience morning sickness but has back pain in a pregnancy in her next one she could have terrible morning sickness but no back pain. I'm 23 weeks along and I'm finally starting to get my energy back. They say that during 12-24 weeks your body is really exhausted. I read what all the mommas on here were saying that once they hit 5 and a half/6 months they had a lot of energy...I thought they were all nuts but now that my energy is getting back...lol boy is it ever. I put our new crib, carseat, stroller and changing table together all in one afternoon the other day! I was so proud of myself lol. All I can suggest is having ONE cup of coffee. Everyone goes crazy about the caffine intake while you are pregnant, and they are right its not good to be drinking a ton of coffee or soda while you are pregnant but my doctor told me that I could have 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day or a single shot espresso drink like a mocha or latte. It seemed to help my afternoon sleepiness when I was at work (had to stop working 3 weeks ago because I feel and started having contractions and have been put on a light bed rest...can't be on my feet or on the go for more than 2 hours at a time and that just didn't work out with what I did at work) Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, congrats on the baby and I wish you a safe and healthy delivery!!

It'll end soon(until near the end at least). I know what you mean. I could set a clock by my sleepiness. It's almost always been the same for me though that around 2-3 in the afternoon I just fall down asleep. I'd be asleep now, if I wasn't sitting on a ball. If I were in just a chair I'd flop over asleep. You might try that...sitting on a yoga ball aka birthing ball. It's great throughout your pregnancy and the fear of falling off might be enough to keep you awake. Also try eating more protien because lack of protien in the diet and too many carbs is associated with sleepiness as well.

Accidents will occur, that's why they're referred to as injuries. My daughter fell off my mattress, no longer as soon as however two times... I'm quite NOT a foul mom. I promise!! Both instances it was once due to the fact that I needed to pee like a maniac... The first time, she was once most effective two months historical and magically began rolling... some thing I had no longer visible her do... The moment time, I inspiration I had ample pillows round her, barricading her within the specified core of my queen mattress... I'll be danged if that little critter did not begin crawling... BACKWARDS!! And off she went. She is/was once thoroughly excellent. Thank goodness. Needless to mention, she remains at the flooring any longer. Crazy matters will occur, and as your pal will get extra secure with being a mother, she is going to become aware of that. She can most effective do the excellent that she will do. Don't count on miracles. I'm certain if her mother have been nonetheless alive, there might be a few lovely humorous reports approximately her falling on her little head. Plus with all of the put up-being pregnant hormones... she is being too rough on herself. She simply demands to take a deep breath... and chill out. It gets higher. Really!! :)

Because you are 13 weeks pregnant with your second child.
You can't fix it. You can only cope with it. Your body takes over what it needs when you are pregnant.
See if there's a nurse's office or a cot someplace you can lie down and take a power nap in the afternoon. I did that all through my second pregnancy and it made a world of difference for me. 20 minutes doze and I was functional again. My boss didn't mind.

I know a lady who was having a similar problem and a friend of hers recommended Vemma which is a blend of mangosten juice and vitamins (not specifically for pregnancy) and her she's rarely tired now. She's about the 13 weeks too. I acutually use the same supplement & I just feel great taking it.
Otherwise I would say eat healthy, take your prenatals, exercise when you can (mild of course) and when possible sleep when you get tired.

For my 3 pregnancies I would get very sleepy, like you, in the afternoon - but only for the first 3-4 months. It should go away soon. I know what you mean - you CANNOT keep your eyes open.

Happened to me too. Get the sleep when you can...you're right on the edge of the second trimester. It'll probably start easing off soon.
