The man's world is crashing down around him and he is in serious denial. He really has no defense - first his resignation was contingent on a judge's decision about his initial confession - now that the judge has ruled and he doesn't like the ruling, he is playing the role of an indignant, spoiled child who was caught with his hand in the cookie jar - except now he is maintaining that it wasn't his hand in the jar or anyways, if it was, the cookie jar was simply put on the counter to entrap him.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah........ whaaaaa

Hey, it is the Republican voters of the great state of Idaho that have sent a closeted queen to Congress for the last 27 years. It's almost as funny as the woman who is married to a gay man for 10 or 15 years and somehow has no idea. Republicans just ain't very bright...
