I must admit that I have from time to time dressed up a little bit for the little ones. The last time I did, I just wore a very nice lined "vampire's cape" over to my son's house for the grand kids. I left the cape at their house and the next spring I was over there and my daughter-in-law reminded me to take it home. On the way home, I need to stop by the grocery store. It was rather chilly, so I threw the cape over my shoulders and did my shopping. Well, you'd think I was walking around naked from the stares I got from the other shoppers. My hubby called me Elvira for the next month after that!

I do like to dress up a little bit. I have a long ball gown that is orange that I usually wear to greet the trick or treaters, I'm not sure if it will fit me this year though. I'm afraid that it may have shrunk while sitting in the closet though.

I don't go CRAZY but I do dress up. I have a jack-o-lantern costume I made myself more than 10 years ago.
I needed SOMETHING to keep me warm while I sat outside waiting for the trick or treaters! (Our driveway is 60 feet long and can be scary for little ones to negotiate--so I always put a table out by the roadway with jack-o-lanterns and bowls of treats on it, and sit down to wait.)
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Used to, and we did lots of decorating too, but only a handful of kids come by anymore. With all the bad things that went on, our local churches have started having parties and what they call "trick or trunk". Much safer for the kids, I know, but I miss them coming to the house...especially the real little ones.

This is one holiday my kids and hubby love also they think its soo fun to dress up and go around and get free treats off everyone.I know at times it can be added extra to the budget.I live in fla and i know one friend has gone through 30 to 50 bucks worth of candy.I think people scout neighborhoods to see where the houses are tight together..
but yes i agree it brings out the kid in all of us...:)
