yes they can tell the difference in the voices and they are familiar to them and can reconize them but until around 9-12 months they're not understanding the momma and daddy part. my son is now 9 mo. and just a few weeks ago he started calling us mama and dada when we walk in the room or talk. untill then we were just the people that loves him and takes care of him.

from about i think 12 weeks on the baby can hear from inside the womb, and since baby is constantly hearing momma's voice of course the baby is going to know the difference between momma's voice and daddies voice.

Depends, does the father talk in a high-pitched voice? It may not be able to tell the difference. Babies here high-pitched noises better than low voices.

Probably. Since they hear them inside the womb, they will notice the difference between the mothers (which they will hear the vibrations of the womb, and the sound) and the fathers (which they just here the deeper sound). Once they come out, they can tell the difference between who birthed them and who didn't.

Apparently so - babies get used to its parents voices from in the womb and experiments have shown that they know the difference from there.

I certainly saw my 2 month old react differently when her daddy came home and she heard his voice, to when she reacts when i walk in the room talking to her.

You bet. A baby is more familiar with mom's voice for all obvious reasons but becomes familiar with dad's voice the more he talks to his baby.

yes! when you were pregnant, your baby had the sound of your heartbeat and your voice to sooth them. When your baby is born and it starts to hear all different sounds around them, its the sound of your voice that knows its going to be safe and your close by. like when baby's are stressed, i was advised to hold my baby close to my heart and say nothing as the baby will recognise your heartbeat.

yes
i think since they can hear in the womb they can even tell the difference then... when in the womb, babies can tell the difference in your tones and pace whether singing reading or speaking to someone. not in heavy detail i imagine but they recognise a difference in patterns i believe is how i read it
