Yes. Later I helped run the projectors at the drive in, of which my town still has an operating one.

My high school auditorium is still standing and it is beautiful. We only saw movies in classrooms. The auditorium was for plays, guest speakers and student election speeches. It was not a multi-purpose room like the schools built today, but a real theatre- like place to go to. It was always tradition for some students to switch the statue heads of Lincoln and Washington onto each other's bodies. That's part of what passed for humor in those old days. Sad, isn't it?
(I do remember getting sleepy during the classroom movies. Some of them were pretty bad.)

Oh, yes. My English teacher did that to us all the time. We had to watch a lot of stuff but not in the auditorium. We had a special visual aids room. If I had to sit by the projector, I couldn't hear well. It would give me a headache.
I thought at first you are asking a question about the song "Charlie Brown." "I smell smoke in the auditorium."
Yes, it is still makeitright, being called daisyduker by the Yahoo Answers.

The ones I hated were for the piano recitals. How boring.
We also used to hold our dance class in the auditorium. I can still picture the teacher in her billowing long skirt and her ballet slippers.
We also had our hot dogs sales lunches about once a month. Hot dog, milk and a cupcake for lunch. Real cheap
meal, but good.
Of course we also had the obligatory.school assemblies.

Yes! The auditorium was also the lunch room. When it was time for lunch the custodian would go in and pull the tables and bench seats down from the walls. Similar to a Murphy bed.

Oh yes.....especially when the nerds had to mend the tape from the "audio-visual club". The mending took longer than the movie. No offense to former "audio-visual club" members.....I was a member but only the guys got the honor of doing the films. Watching the light just melt the film right before your eyes. Yep....remember it well.
