A role model is someone you look up to... be it a parent, a friend, a teacher.. even an older bother or sister. Someone in the media... that's an idea, but why not chose someone you can actually have a chance to speak with, to ask questions and to learn from?.. Okay.. I answered your question with a question.. bad idea.. Pick someone who's real, and that you can talk with.

There are no real role models today. If you want an example of self sufficientcy you have to go back to someone like OG the caveman. Our media is full of pampered dummies who only look nice, but have personalities of a melon.

As far as l am concerned there would not be one as everyone must have a bad habit and maybe the person you think could be a good role model might just have the worst habits ever which you may dislike. Nobody is perfect or the same.

I would pick Jenna Jameson... despite her love for getting naked she is a strong minded intelligent female figure. And of course there are role models in the media today, you just have to look. Take Perez Hilton for example, that's journalism at its finest. Perez is an icon as well as an outspoken rebel, teaching many to speak their minds.

Oprah. I have no idea why people think "hannah monatanah", Miley Cyrus, or any other of those preteen teenyboppers are role models when they have done nothing for the title. As much as I hate to admit it Hilary Duff is a better role model than those girls. At least she does things for others.

I think a child's best role models are their parents. They're definitely the most influential people in a kid's life, and hopefully, live the right way.

I guess you should pick your own, but I tend to go for the brianiacs... Steven Hawking for the work he's done regardless of his disability is an ideal role model IMHO.
