this is actually a two way question. When driving my window is usually rolled up - I wave back. When standing in my front yard and a car comes by - I wave, in a natural motion of acknowledgement.
If I am in my driveway on a Saturday evening watching my College Football evening game and my fire pit with neighbors - I will seldom wave because of the goings on. (This is extra material by the way only to give you the kind of insight of the type of neighbor I am - lol).

I can't drive anymore, but if I am in the car & someone waves at me I smile & wave, even if I don't know them...I am a very friendly, outgoing person :-)

I always wave back. Quite often, I'm the first one to wave. It's called being friendly.

Depends.
If its an old person they get a wave back.
If its someone around my age or similiar its usually the gangsta nod.
If its a cute guy, its a nod and a huge smile.
If its a friend of mine, I stick the finger.
If its family (or someone I can't stick the finger to), I throw them dueces.
And last but not least if its my best friend and he's alone, I flash him.

well i am only 13 but when i sit in the front seat and i see someone wave i just ignore them unless i know them then its wave back

When some one waves , I try to wave back
Most of the time when people wave they are trying to be friendly
When I wave back it is a sign that I commensurate
So if you wave at me , I will wave back and say Thanks

ya i wave... because when i am on the bus going on like a trip or a game with my friends we play sweet or sour.... we wave and if the person waves back then they are sweet and if they dont then they are sour ... so the answer to ur question yes i wave bakk because i am a sweet person

Do I recognize this person? Am I letting them pull out into traffic? I'd wave back, but otherwise, no. I'd ignore them.
