I don't have poison Ivy in the Yard. The previous owners planted the ground cover Ivy and it is growing up the side of my house. I suffer from a lung disorder so I can't keep up with the growth.

Have someone just pull it up. The roots are very small. It isn't good growing up the side of a house. It can hurt the structure, I love English Ivy-but have mine growing around a flower garden wall.

Pull up all you can, mow or weed whack the rest and Round-up any new growth. Ivy has thick coated leaves, and Round-up works best on the tender new growth. There are ivy killers out there also, I haven't tried them.
Water the area before you use the herbicide, allow the leaves to dry. This will get it growing, and it will absorb the herbicide better. Also, most herbicids don't work in temps over 85 or so, or they take longer to work. Plants don't metabolize much at higher temps.
I'm sure you know to apply any herbicide on a calm day to avoid it drifting onto plants that you want to keep.

Try putting this up on craigslist.com in your area and I would bet people would LOVE to dig up your ivy for their own garden. I certainly would if given the opportunity, plus you then wouldn't have to do a thing but show the people who want it where it is and let them do all the work.

i got rid of mine by accident. When we salted the walk during winter ice storms, the salt killed the ivy growing along side the walk.

A product called RoundUp. Your garden center should have it.
