Speak at a moderate pace and enunciate your words.

Learn some little known, but fun facts about your subject.

If permitted, have a variety of information to speak about and vary your speech.

Don't feel like you have to talk the whole entire time you are giving a tour and give people a chance to look around at what you're showing them.

For the ladies, especially, learn about the dress of the period. See what you can find out about fashions for that time period. Don't forget men's fashion.

The more you know about your subject matter, the better you will be when presenting the information.

I used to work at the KY Horse Park giving horse-drawn tours and speeches to go along with the tours. It was great fun!

To learn what it was like you need to take them there. You have all the fixings of the site, now make them feel what it was like during that time. If you can get them surprised by something besides looking and learning about old things they will pay more attention to you.

When I gave historical tours in the desert, one of the first thing I did was have them taste a local plant, I told them that the plant was named by the early pioneers and they should try to think of what the name they might have used. By the middle of the tour they all had the name, salt bush. And they listened to everything i said on those hot dry tours.

Zeppelin isn't visiting once more. Page, Jones, and Jason Bonham are operating on anything new. I do not know approximately a singer. If there's any fact to the Coldplay factor, I might jab an ice prefer in my ears earlier than I might pay attention to that. That mostly applies to Coldplay for that topic.

You need to know the subject very well. If you are telling people about it, then you need to be able to answer their questions. Even the dumb ones. You need to really be on your game. You need to understand the site and know what happened and what you are doing. Your dress, your attitude, your mannerism, must be in era. You can't drop in and out of character. When you are on, YOU ARE ON!

This could be a very important time in your life. You will definitely grow. enjoy and learn.

Enunciate. Speak a little slowly and project your voice. If you see elderly people in the group, speak up a little. But for hard of hearing, enunciation is more important than volume.

The tip would, ofcourse be dependent on the tour but I'd probably say 15 to 20%.
