Its a nice name, however the way you like it pronounced will sound like a long island girl inviting her friends to the "dye-nah" (diner). I like the way dee-nah sounds, but you would have to spell it differently. Perhaps deena. or deana. or

Dinah is usually pronounced Dye-nah and if you want people to pronounce it Dee-nah you should probably spell it Deena or Dina. If will be frustrating to go through life with people constantly mispronouncing the name. It's a rather old fashioned name and would not be one of my first choices but certainly unusual in this day and age.

Well If you want to pronouce it Dee-nah then spell it Deena. Or else everyone will call her Dinah.

Which Dinah is cute, and completely not on the Most popular list. It's old fashioned with out following the Grace/Sophia trend. And it completely stays away from the Kaelin Brayden trend that makes me want to scream.

The old actress was named Dinah Shore.

The only down side I can think of about the name Dinah is Children may sing this old song to her..
"Dinah won't ya blow, Dinah won't ya blow your hoooorn. Someone's in the kitchen with DINAH! Someone's in the kitchen I knooooow..."

I like Dinah and I also first thought of Dinah Shore like another answer given.

I think that most people will pronounce it "Dye-nah". I just took a poll of 10 co-workers by writing down "Dinah" and asking them how they would pronounce it. All said "Dye-nah"

I think of Dinah Shore, and she pronounced it Dye-nah. Dina or Deena would be my preferred spellings if you wanted it pronounced Dee-nah.

It is pronounced dye-nah. Honestly, it just makes me think of that children's song: "Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, someone's in the kitchen I know I know..."

That's not to say it's a bad name, though.

"Dee-nah" should be spelled Dina, Deana, or Deena. "Dye-nah" is Dinah, and that name says school marm, librarian, cook. It's a tough name to carry.

I prefer the name as "Dye-nah" - and personally I'm not a big fan. It reminds me too much of the song that goes :
"Someones in the kicthen with Dinah, Someones in the kitchen i knowwww .. Dinah won't you blow, Dinah won't you blow, Dinah won't you blow your hornnnn."

Something like that : )

Either way -- Good Luck!

I dont really like it. It reminds me of that song (someone's in the kitchen with Dinah) So it sort of sounds like an old cafeteria cook name. And too much like Diner, with a bad accent.

I don't like Dinah. It sounds to old fashioned to me. My opinion might be a little biased considering I know a lady named Dinah and she's got moles on her face and she is a *****.
