Congress' job performance was approved by just 22 percent, continuing a gradual decline in the public's assessment since Democrats took over in January. Its lowest reading in the poll was 24 percent, recorded most recently in July.

It's the Republicans fault! It's the Republicans fault!!

Sorry, just joining the chorus of denial and spin early. But boy, that really was a whirl wind first hundred days, wasn't it? And the, almost, a year since has been equally impressive. The only real thing they tried to do was surrender and thank gawd that Bush didn't let them get away with that. Now the major Socialist contenders for president have all figured out that surrenders a bad idea. Maybe they could share that epiphany with Makmou Reid and Grandma Pelosi. Of course they'll have to spell it out in pictures for those two intellectual giants. I'm sure Hillary can draw stick figures. After all, she's got to deal with Bill every now and then.

hahahahahahahaha...very good of you. turning the tide on the libs who have been calling Bush supporters the "30 percenters" for a while now because of the Presidents low rating. The problem is, the Democrats hold a very, very, very slim majority - not enough to override any Presidential veto so despite your insinuation that the Democrats or "Liberals" have a 22% approval rating, you have to remember that the Republican party is the reason nothing is getting done. Trust me...there are more than 22% of the voting population that are liberal......you'll find out in 2008!!!!

Have Congressional poles EVER exceeded those of the President?

It is the nature of a committee that it will not act as quickly as an individual. It will never appear brilliant, etc. The best it can hope for is representative.

In this case, the Congress, through predominantly liberal is stymied by the Republican minority in the Senate. Considering the number of Republicans who won't be coming back next year, we may see a Senate that is veto-proof!

Personally, I don't think that would be good. Any government with no effective opposition will do horrible things (Consider Bush's first six years).

Nope, the progressives are in the majority. By the way it is the Republicans who are bringing down the ratings in Congress. They have set out to continue the practice of the neocon led Congresses of obstructing the will of the people to advance their own agenda.

From Rasmussen Reports:

"Prior to reaching the 50% level in September, support for Democrats had stayed in the 45% to 47% range for six consecutive monthly surveys."

"Before dropping to 32% this month, support for Republicans had ranged from 34% to 38% over that same six month period."

Yessireee Bob, those darn Democrats are sure doing poorly compared to the Grand OLD Party aren't they?

But the approval rating for the Democratic Party is around 44% to 50%, much higher than Bush.

Looks like you didn't include that little fact.
