The dentist should have gave you some dental wax. Just put the wax over your braces. If you didn't get any dental wax than just buy some oral numbing gel and use that. Don't worry you will get used to your braces. Don't ever chew gum. In a few years everybody will say you have a beautiful smile.

It's only been 1 day so I think you just need to get used to it...and it may not seem like it, but you will! I had braces for 4 years (gosh, i don't know how i did it!) and the beginning is always the hardest...the only way to ease the pain a little is ADVIL!!! :) that was definately my friend during the long process :)

I got braces one day and that hurt! Dont worry it only stays there for a week or two. I mean the pain. But then Mix up a salt water drink and swish it around your mouth. I will help a little, I mean it beacause I did it!! So best wishes!!

I had braces for three years with rubber bands and all. I remember how much they hurt. The only thing that helped me was putting ora gel on my gums to numb them on the outside. It only took care of a little of the pain, but it was better than nothing. Ibuprofen also helped a little. It's rough...I feel for you!

Lots of Ibporfin. Try to talk less until it feels better. Also, sucking on ice sometimes helps. Take them out for little periods of timeto give yourself a break. Unfortunatly braces REALLY hurt, but you get used to it.

Ouch! Been there done that.

It's not going to get better till your done with your treatment. Once you grow accustomed to the bands you have on now.. they'll keep increasing the strength of them.

Hang in there!

uncomfortable like you are in pain or that they are rubbing. if the are rubbing, put wax on them. you should have gotten some from the dentist. if not, they sell it at wal-mart. if you are in pain, take some Tylenol. you might have to take it for a few days until you get used to them.
