Just today I got the skin on the pad of middle finger partially ripped off. I cleaned it, folded the skin back into place, slapped a bandage on good and tight, and let it sit for several hours. When I decided to peek at it, I noticed something... Most of it had healed, but in the middle of the wound, there was a pocket of purple blood. I assume this is simply because it got caught up in the space between the skin and the flesh beneath it with almost no way to circulate itself. Is this normal? Should I remove the skin that was partially ripped, or should I continue with what I'm doing?

Leave it alone - it's quite normal - you've diagnoses the cause of the purple area exactly - it is just congealed blood.

You've done everything right as regards cleaning it up - just leave it alone - the skin underneath will gradually grow back and the purple area will recede as the body absorbs the congealed blood. The area of skin will come away of its own accord.

Good job
