What exactly did he do wrong legally? Im so confused. He hit on a cop in the bathroom...why would that be illegal? Can't there be gay men in Idaho...or is it illegal to try to pick up someone in the bathroom. Does that just apply to bathrooms or is it everywhere? IM REALLY CONFUSED

He was charged with soliciting sex in public but plead guilty to a lesser charge.

These activities happen everywhere and for that reason it is illegal to solicit sex in a public location.

What you should understand is that he has a 'snowball's chance in hell' to convince a judge to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea.

Senator Craig was--and still is--an outspoken opponent of gay rights. Months ago this summer, Washington D.C. police accused Craig of making attempts to solicit gay sex in a airport public men's bathroom.

He was arrested and charged with sex solicitation. If found guilty in court, he'd have to likely do time and become a registered sex offender.

He is NOT in jail and no further word, if any, of a pending court date; police internal affairs are investigating the matter.

An audiotape released weeks later DOES hint Craig was pressured and railroaded by the arresting officer into a confession; there ARE grounds to argue entrapment in this case.

Craig at first was going to do the usual thing when public figures get embarrassed and resign.

Then, he decided to defy the critics and political enemies by announcing he will NOT resign---and will go forward on as senator.

People nationwide, fed up w/ the corruptive element of dirty politics have cheered Craig to take a stand against his political enemies.

He did not do anything but be in the wrong place at the right time, meaning a cop was doing a sting, but because he did not want the details to be known, he pleated out to avoid having to explain why he was tapping in a public restroom, which if you are gay and are looking for a quickie is the place to be.

What he really did wrong was to be a hypocrit -staunch opponent of gay rights in congress but getting his jollies in washrooms. Well if this is the sort of person they want representing them, I guess people will continue to vote for him.

I think it would have been perfectly legal for him to try to pick on another congressman (or woman) right in front of the Washington monument.

What he did wrong was plead guilty. There was no way they could prove he did anything. He should've told them to take a flying leap..............
