I need to find a song to sing during tryouts for a musical. I'm going to be the youngest one trying out for this play. Most of the people will be adults and if I want even a small roll I'll need to amaze the casting crew. I have an extremely wide range, from alto to high saprano, and I need a song that'll show that. The song should also be very lively? It'd also be nice if it WASN'T a love song and it wasn't over-used. (You know, like, don't tell me to use a song that everybody uses when trying out for a play.)

P.S. I also need to look my age instead of looking like I'm twelve. Any ideas on how to make my makeup add a couple of years? Maybe a certain way to dress?

I'm not actually twelve. I'm fourteen and look twelve. And I don't care what part I get. The musical is called Urinetown. Feel free to laugh at the name, it's a comedy.

What you should be concentraiting on is what role you want in the show and what song you can sing to demonstrate that you have the vocal range to be able to portray that role. What show is it? What role do you hope to get? For instance if you were auditioning for the show Gypsy and you wanted Baby or Dainty June you might sing Born to Entertain from Ruthless to show your personality. If you look 12 then you will be cast as 12. It's hard to make suggestions without knowing the show and role that you want, but as for your age:

I Want it Now - Charlie and the Chocholate Factory
My New Philosophy - You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
Little Known Facts – You’re A Good man Charlie Brown
I Want More – Lestat (very hardcore)
Why Am I Me – Shenandoah
The Girl I Mean To Be – Secret Garden
Getting to Know You – The King & I
I Always Knew – Annie Warbucks
Little Lamb – Gypsy

Other songs just depends on how old you actually look and the role you intend to audition for. As for make up, you're twelve. It should be minimal. You should dress cute, but comfortable. Also if the show involves dancing at all either bring dance clothes or wear something you can dance in. Most girls wear a dress or a skirt and top.

good luck

I know it is overdone, but if you can do it well, it still wow's them, Tomorrow. or Don't Cry for Me Argentina.

do your hair up, use a little blush, eye liner and shadow. light lip color.

Long skirt and a bit of a heel and an attractive blouse.

when you are called to audition, get up with enthusiasm and energy, take you place on the stage and look out and say to all, "I love it up here!" Then say your name and the name of your song. Let er rip! Enjoy every minute.
