The 2 Party system in America is really proving its weakness to its people. When i do participate in this forum I find myself quietly laughing at the how stupid it sounds to my ears when American people choose sides.. Democrat or Republican, The bottom line is, that there is absolutely no way, that 300 million people can be living in a democracy can be represented fairly with only two parties. Yes Europeans have many different fractures and issues with a multi-party system, but there is no inherent good that can come from a system claiming to represent 300 million people, especially when the man at the top listens to no one.. and these red necks who were elected by fraud and theft, on both sides are too stupid to understand that the world is not listening to them or Americans anymore. . Its time for a mult-party system in America`?

Yes, I think it is destroying America because our congress cannot get anything done because everything is politically based. People rarely vote against their party. It would be nice to have some more independent people in congress that would actually vote on an issue based on their beliefs and what is actually right and not simply vote to comply with the people on the same side of the aisle.

Could anyone of you please explain the difference between plain vanilla and French vanilla? I'm French, never heard of something like that? For us in France, your system with two big parties seems really odd, here, even for the extreme left, we must have at least 3 parties: Ligue communiste révolutionnaire Parti communiste and the third one, I can't recall. Ar our last elections, we thought a big party of the center (recently named Parti Démocrate by François Bayrou) has made enough votes in the first tour to have consistent weight on the second, but Sarkozy (you know, our little nervous president, recently divorced?) put so much pressure on the politicians that poor Bayrou is almost alone in his partie now. Oh yes, we have many parties, but in the end, what's the difference ? big party at the right side of the check (UMP with Sarkozy) and the left is represented by the parti socialist who is no longer socialist and very much divided now... What's in for the Frenchies? You have to work more and get paid less, when you have the chance to have a job. I, personnally have two masters and no hope to find a job anytime soon. France is no more a paradise than any other "rich" countries, it's always paradise for a happy few.

"Will"? Or "is"?
What if you are neither "conservative" nor "liberal"? What if you aren't even "moderate"? There are THREE primary colors, and life is lived in THREE dimensions, not on a two-dimensional line or plane. Some of us would like to rise above the two-dimensional, two-party wingnuts.
And don't start spouting off about "libertarians" and "greens". Those people are just crazier rights and lefts running amok without adult supervision.

I would believe it would be difficult to get a majority vote on an issue if you have more than 2 parties.

Stay in Europe if it makes you happy. I think your remarks are idiotic. We have more than two parties in the US. We also have independents who run for office and get elected.
The US is not a democracy. You really don't know much. We have the best country in the world. We have the best economy in the world. Nothing will destroy the US.

There are other parties , five or six of them . People can't be forced to join one of the minor parties if they don't care to .

It has not helped. It seems to keep people united in hate against the opposition party.
