Yes! I remember her because she looked so beautiful and I often wonder what happened to her.

Yea, it was an amazing picture. They did a follow up a few years ago.
I remember they eyes being more of a golden and green. Perhaps I had a different dye lot?
Also, remember her eyes did not look like she was a subservient personality personality.
Shame on the USSR for invading (just like the USA for invading Iraq). They don't usually think of how these are the people most effected.
PS My eye colour is kind of look like that too. It was touching to see someone who looked like she could be my sister fleeing a war.

that's obtainable if the "hidden" gene for blue eyes has been handed down by using generations from the two area of the family members. If the two the mum and the father supply the toddler their hidden genes, then the toddler would have blue eyes.

Yes, that was such a beautiful photograph, she was young though, maybe 13.
They recently tracked her down, and the current picture of her demonstrates what a hard life people in that part of the world have. She looks ancient, and she is only in her 30's now.

I saw a follow up on that young woman. Time and despair had dulled her looks, and etched her face with lines of worry. She now looked worn out and beaten down. It was plain to see she had experienced much sadness and adversity.
Her eyes still haunt me as I remember the beauty and longing in them as a young girl.

Dino - Life magazine recently (perhaps two or three years ago) tracked that woman down and did another story about her & her family. It looks as though she hasn't had it easy these past years.

Didn't she have a red shawl covering her hair? If that is the one you are talking about, yes I remember her. Her eyes were definitely powerful. I tried to draw her, but I don't know what happened to my sketch.
