What your mom thinks is important, but really not the issue. Do you need math to get where you want to be in life? Then get over your discomfort and do it for yourself! If not, then fuhgetaboutit

There is no reason to feel uncomfortable when being tutored. I am a high school senior (not that bright mathematically speaking) and I am in precalculus with these mathematical geniuses who are all juniors and seniors. I am much more of a language/artsy person than a mathematical one so I am always blurting out stupid answers in the middle of class. But do I care? No! You know why? Because no one is perfect. You need to realize that you are not perfect. No one is. It sounds to me like your mom is concerned but you need to tell her to back away and to find someone who can tutor you after school or something. Lots of high school juniors and seniors would be willing to help you I'm sure. Don't give up and keep trying! Maybe asking the teacher for help might help. Or another math teacher (the one with more experience, who teaches the harder subjects). Good luck!

Not comfortable, well personally I maintained about a 3.7 or so and had a math tutor and I personally paid for my tutor and picked a teacher(high school pre-calculus) to tutor me in college pre-calculus, I only got a B, because of my poor attitude when My Tutor, Mr. Clark gave me a pop-quiz?!

Tough with the comfortable. As is obvious by the question, you aren't comfortable with flunking math but you are comfortable sitting there doing nothin about it. You need to take charge. Yes, it might be uncomfortable, but, if you can learn and up that grade, it will be worth it. Ask the TEACHER for help for god's sake. Last time I checked, that's what they are there for, but DO SOMETHING!!!

search the Internet for on line help, get out library books on math that will teach it different, there are also learning Cd's you can buy. Get a study buddy that your comfortable with.
Hang in there your mom just wants the best for you, if she didn't get upset it would be worse because that would mean she didn't care at all.

You are just going to have to get over it. It won't magically become clear to you without help. Your mom's is disappointed because she knows how much math figures into daily life and probably because you could change it, but won't. Trust me, tutoring never killed anybody and your tutor knows you need help, that's why they are there.

You have little concept oh how uncomfortable life will be without math. You only have to put up with all the struggles to learn for a few years to have a lifetime of success and enjoyment. Please your mom, ask her for help, and put up with a tutor.
