I took the Amtrack train from Cleveland to Boston and it was delayed over 20 hours in the middle of the winter just sitting on the tracks because another train down the line derailed. We missed everything we had tickets too go see.

Pre-booked the train from Cardiff to Southampton and they cancelled the train between Cardiff and Bristol last minute, so had to change in Reading. Train delayed outside Reading & missed the connection. Had to get a taxi the rest of the way. Very nearly missed my 50th birthday, 17 day cruise. Caught it with 2 minutes to spare. The band was packing up as we went up the gangplank. Took me three days to recover, and I'll NEVER go anywhere by train again!!

I missed my flight once in Paris too. I dont use public in the states but overseas their public transportation is usually pretty good.
Ive fired people over it before. Somebody said sorry the bus broke down and we were 30 minutes late. I said you take t-35 right? he said yeah. I said **** so does the person im meeting with in 5 minutes. She is going to be really late.
Idiot employee didnt think I would check?

I live in Washington, DC and it's happened several times -- making me late to pick up my daughter from after-care when she was younger, late for work - so yes, it can be a real blower when that happens.
