THe owners manual would tell you 10w30 in winter or 10w40 in summer. If it was my truck I would put in 4 quarts of 20w50 Castrol and 1 quart of Lucas oil treatment.

This would better lubricate the bottom end of the engine, and also may help the oil leaks. THe Lucas treatment is good stuff! No....I'm not a salesman...just a satisfied customer.

I'd use something a little heavier. GM calls for 10-30 or 10-40 oil. I would certainly use the heavier weight, maybe even a 20-50. But be careful on cold starts. If you use a heavier oil, you need to wait an extra minute or so on cold starts before reving the engine.

RE: Headers for my 350 Chevy engine.? Okay, I have a 1980 Chevy K10 with a 350 engine. I want to get a pair of headers for it but I don't know about much them. I want your opinions on which are best.I have about $600-$700 to spend so I want performance at a value. Please help.

Heavy oil doesn't flow as well or get to tight spaces as well. Stupid people tell you to use it because it makes the oil pressure go up. But it makes the pressure go up because it resists flowing more than the proper oil. So you get less oil throughout the engine and a lot less in the tight clearances. Stick with a brand name 10W30.

I would use 10w30 or 10w40. The headers make no difference in what kind of oil you use.
