My cycle last on average 28 days. I am due to start on Sun. I flow for 10. I have been for the last 4 months, if it happens again it will be the 5th month in a row. I want to go on Birth Control. I haven't been on that stuff since '04, even then it wasn't consistent. I pass clots the size of a nickel from day1-day4 , day5-day7 the size of a half-dollar,day8-day9 a dime, day ten no clots just brown. I can go thru half of a bag of heavy pads of a quantity of 36, and pantty linners 10 out of a box of 40. Apparentlly their is a history of it in my family.
Now for the questions:
What the best type of Birth Control to go on?
Is this because I don't have a regular sex life?

I did discuss this with a OB/GYN and she did try to put me on a form of birth control and it was not covered by my insurance. It would have been one where it wold have minimized the clots, and to be taken while menstruation.Lo-Ovral (Pills) I think. I just recently started by the way.

I know ya said "Women only" but I would say if you are unsure about it and have concerns, talk to a doctor / Gyno for advice

some people just have different flows, and if a doctor hasnt told you it was abnormal otherwise, then you should be fine. Birth control definitely helps with bleeding (amount of, time menstruation lasts). Ortho tri cyclen lo is a great pill because it offers a low level of hormones but is very efficient and not harsh on the body, i've been on it for years now, and have no complaints.

OK first of all i wish we could blame it on not having regular sex, but i do not think so. I am not a doctor but i am a MA, i would say please go to your doctor it is not okay in most circumstances to be clotting like that. I had the depo shot and you do not get a period at all i am not sure i would recommend that because to me it may not be healthy to not get a period because for a women that is the cleansing process. PLEASE JUST SEE A DOCTOR THAT IS THE BEST ANSWER YOU CAN GET AND THERE ARE DR WEBSITES THAT WILL ANSWER YOUR CALL VIA EMAIL IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A OB OR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN

This has nothing to do with a sex life. You sound like you could have endometriosis so ask your doc about this. Also there is no best birth control to go on. It is what the DOC feels will work best for you and then after trial and error you find one that works. Speak to your doc about all of this including the possibility of endo.

Your gyeno. can only tell you the best b/c for your body. It would be a very good solution though b/c your periods would only last 3-4 days. It has nothing to do with your sex life at all. Thats a whole other ballpark.

My cousin just went through this. She went to the GYN. They tried birth control pills it didn't work. Then they tried the depo, that didn't regulate her period either. So they did a D&C surgery on her. You should go see a doctor.

Please see a Gyn as your bleeding is unusually heavy and to get the best method of treatment for you. Birth control is not always the answer.

Having sex or not does not effect how your periods are. Genetics does.

i'd bypass to a doctor. on occasion, have faith it or not, you may discover one with a great heart who won't overcharge you. as quickly as I had no coverage and had a "lady" emergency, the physician i ended up seeing found out i did not have coverage and did not charge me for the bypass to. To on the present time i'm taken aback, inspite of the shown fact that it purely is going to tutor you that there are good human beings accessible who're prepared to help. whether yours isn't so beneficiant and additionally you ultimately finally end up having to pay for it little with the help of little over the subsequent 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, your peace of strategies is well worth it.

You need to go see a doctor. Clots larger than the size of a quarter can be signs of many different serious problems, so it is important you consult your gyno.

Good luck :)

I had the same problem. I had fibroid tumors (they are not cancerous) inside my uterus. I had Ablation done, (though you cannot do this if you intend on having children as it burns EVERYTHING) and I have not had a period in two years, and do not miss them! YAY!
