my question is how can the ultrasound come up with the same number if all it does is measure the baby. how could the ultrasound measure my baby to be 9 weeks, if the conception occurs only 2 weeks after my period?

Ok wait you said the first day of your last period was july18 which puts you at 9 weeks on sep19. You had an ultrasound on sep19 that also said you were 9 wks pregnant
Why would you think the ultrasound was wrong if you think you are 9 weeks and the ultrasound thinks you are 9 weeks? You are btoh argreeing and yes on sept 19th you would be about 9 weeks so um again whats the problem your question makes no sense!

An ultrasound can only give an approximate date based on the baby's measurements. As babies grow at different rates, you can't get a perfect answer.
You generally concieve two weeks *before* your next period is due, give or take. (Yes, if you have a 28 day cycle this will be 2 weeks after your last, but if you have a different length cycle, it won't be.) You can concieve at other times during your cycle, not just when you are ovulating, though how many weeks pregnant you are is still calculated from when your last period was. It's not an especially accurate way of counting either, but you've got to have some system to work with.
You've got a better idea what you were doing and when you were doing it than anyone else!

You didnt necessarily become pregnant on the last day of your last cycle. You also may have been late or missed. Ultrasounds are usually accurate. Sometimes they miss on the sex of the baby but that is a mis reading with the eye... for the age they go by measurements. If its off I wouldn't imagien it is by much.

You also may have had a cycle PAST conception. Sometimes even a few months after.

The ultrasound goes also by LMP, the consider that your period was two weeks before conception.

They give you dates based on what your LMP should be based on the size and development of the fetus. Not based on the time of conception. Doctors offices will always go by LMP, NOT conception.
