I asked this in the astronomy section, but i'd also like some P&S opinions as some of them should be funny to see. Thanks.

if you can go running ao the velocity of light you reach Alpha Centauri in one year, i think so.

Well, it's roughly four light years, so we know it takes light four earth years to travel the distance. Of course, we don't have any ships that can go that fast. The fastest space vessel built by man is Voyager I which has attained a speed of 39,000 mph which is 10.83 miles per second. Of course, that's a small probe with relatively little mass (compared to something that can carrry humans) but even if we could use that same engine at that speed it would take ... wait for it... if you're good at math you can do this yourself...

About 69,000 years. Better pack a lunch.

Depends on the traffic. Here to Dallas (17 miles) can take over an hour. At that rate it would take about 175 million years.

The fastest spacecraft man has ever built would take about 75,000 years.

At what speed???

I am confident that at some point in the future we will understand exotic matter well enough to create a "folded space" drive that will make trips like that almost instantaneous.

If it is 60 light years away, and if you were to travel at the speed of light (186,000 mi/sec) it would take 60 years to get there.

A long time. Why don`t you go somewhere nearer, like Texas.

more than a few lifetimes unless you bring shatner and nimoy along and go warp, in which case maybe a couple of years.

That would depend on your speed. At the speed of light, which is not achievable by matter, it would take 4.37 years.

Not long, in a time warp.
Go through a wormhole and it won't take long.
