I read it a on a friend of mine's blog...I thought it was very interesting. I agree with some things on it and I disagree with other things

lemme know what you guys think?

"Don't hate me because I am white.

You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.

You call me "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and even "The Man" and you think it's OK.

But when I call you, "******", "Kike", "Towelhead", "Sand-******", "Camel Jockey", "Beaner" or "Chink" you call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You say that you want to make a change in this country.

How? By protesting everything that we believe in? By trying to change everything that has made this country run fine for centuries?

You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Cesar Chavez Day.

You have Yom Hashoah

You have Cinco de Mayo

You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi

If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.

If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You enjoy the thought of Driver's Licenses for illegals.

We enjoy the thought of people obeying the laws of the land in which they reside. No negotiations.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it.

But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You call each other "******", but when we call you that, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.

But, when a white police officer shoots a gang member or beats up a drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

We work hard to preserve our history.

You come along and try to re-write it.

We want a safe environment for our families and children.

You want to bring the ghetto to our neighborhoods.

I am white.

I am proud.

I am an American.

But, you call me a racist.

Basically, he's racist and tries to justify it by saying others are racist too and in doing so points out his ignorance and racist attitudes even more? His blog is garbage.

This is a sticky question. I think that people should rightly be offended when hearing someone announce that their own race is "better" in some way, or when someone spouts some racist drivel. However, the only racist drivel I've heard lately has been from the occasional Black person. My ancestors were recent immigrants from Sweden, Ireland, and France, and came to this country, dirt-poor, after 1900. I'm am beyond sick of hearing how I am somehow responsible for slavery or "the man" keeping other folks down. "The Man" kept *my* great-grandparents down, too, because they were poor and didn't speak english very well. So they worked hard, made sure the kids studied hard in school, and here I am today. "The Man" is a select group of people, and just because they all happen to be rich white males doesn't mean that I owe anyone anything because I'm also from European stock.

I think that this country is such a great mix of ethnicities. I love that my kids are learning about other cultures and are learning to speak some Spanish. That being said, I can cook great Swedish pancakes, but I can also speak English, can get along well with all sorts of people, and can do things like use the subway system. If you come to the great melting pot of America, be prepared to melt a little.

I'm a fan of Black History month, and I don't like some of the obnoxious stuff in the guy's rant. At the same time, I don't have to apologize for being Euro-American. Racism drives me nuts, and directing it at people like me is just as insane as directing it towards a minority. I don't have any guilt issues about my race, sorry.

Sounds like someone is disappointed about America abolishing slavery. Nobody really cares if you have white pride, it's not are fault black people are not afraid to put their lives on the line just to have their voice heard. Would you been willing to be hung just so a few people could hear this statement and MAYBE carry on the fight. I mean that's all my ancestors did. I fill like anyone can say whatever one fills , BUT u have to be willing to man up and take responsiblity for your statements. Now I got a question for you. Would you have the guts to read this statement in my neighborhood?

The problem with mantras like "white pride" and "white power" are that historically they've been used as a justification for atrocities committed against other races. For the most part, those who advocate "black power" or "brown pride" have done so to encourage minority achievement. Although some proponents of black power have been guilty of racism and violence, their crimes pales in comparison to the genocide practiced by the Nazis, KKK, and other advocates of white power.

Obviously you are proud to be a white American. That's good. Everyone should take pride in who he or she is. I agree that everyone should not only take pride, but to have respect for one another. I believe that is the essence of your message/question, and I agree. But I also think you are being a little too harsh on some of the other ethnic groups, who I'm certain take pride in their heritage. Except for a few who are natural trouble makers -- and that includes whites as well, most people can combine the qualities of pride and respect. Therefore, you should ease up on the other groups, as they are not all bad or racist. One bad apple does not spoil the entire bushel. I've found that showing friendliness to another person rewards me with friendliness in return.

The one thing I do agree with is that if a white person says something rude to a person of a different color, he's racist. However, if a different race says something to a white person, it's okay.

I understand that whites have done horrible things in the past, and I'm definitely not proud of that. I believe in equal rights for everyone because we are all human. God created us all the same.

What people don't understand is that many people are racist towards whites, but talking about that is taboo. It's a very touchy subject because whites seem to always get it better than everyone else. It's not fair, I agree, but it's also not fair to be racist towards every white person because of it.

We're not all evil, racist, hateful human beings. I'm all for immigration and I stand up against discrimination and racism towards every race. I live in a rural area, so I've heard some nasty things about mostly blacks and Hispanics. Every time I've heard racism, I have stood up against it. We should not discriminate each other.

The word "pride" has different connotations when discussing race.

White pride = racial superiority (ie KKK, neo-Nazi)

Black pride = having dark skin is nothing to be ashamed about, despite how the media and society have been telling you that for centuries. You are not a second class citizen.

As for Blacks who hate Whites... that is a reaction to having felt discriminated against their whole lives. Unlike their oppressors, Black don't think they are superior to Whites. They hate the hatred. They wouldn't behave this way if Whites hadn't discriminated against them in the first place.

ADDED:
1. This author apparently forgot about slavery when talking about how Whites built this country.

2. This author apparently thinks most Blacks are illiterate, gang banging, ghetto folks.

3. This author apparently thinks having Black neighbors means that the White families won't be safe.

4. And, this author still doesn't understand why Blacks wouldn't like him?!?

I am proud of who I am, a white, catholic, brown haired male. I wouldnt change anything of this (except maybe the hair). However, if I ever wake up being anything else, I wouldnt give a **** (but I would have to do a lot of paperwork!)

there is nothing wrong with being proud of being white. but i find that those who advocate "white pride" are really just playing victim, and often really are racist.

there is a white history week already. but there is no real need for it given that white people's history has never been left out of history books. every day is white history day.

just google "white pride." those are racist organizations. the articles written on those websites are not all about the contributions of whites, they are all about what makes whites superior.

the terms "white pride" and "black pride" are a bit silly because they are huge tents. german history is not the same as irish history, the only thing that would bond those two cultures is skin colour. and that is a silly was to categorize yourself.

and with all due respect, much of what is written in that piece is blatantly racist. it isn't about pride at all. don't whine about martin luther king jr day, like that day takes anything away from white people. that is crap.

the million man march was to demand rights for those that did not have them. what rights to white people not have that you would need to march for?

be proud of who you are, but don't do it by putting down other races.

The few things in that statement that may be true lose their ground with the 'white' propaganda that saturates your friends entire post.

When people have been discriminated against for centuries they should be able to fight for/rejoice over their rights. When a race has been the discriminators for centuries, it's awfully hard to pity them.

There's nothing wrong with being white.

But this blog says the word "You" (You call me a racist, YOU rewrite history, etc.) in a racist manner. It's painting everybody with the same brush, lumping all non-whites into the same category, along with Jews (aren't most of them white?) That's what I object to, not the hue of your skin.
