If we are talking last year then the worst free agent signing has to be Mtl giving 2 yrs and 7 million to Samsonov. The guy was a total flop. The worst trade is probably someone else's best trade. For a trade they had to make I would say Pronger from Edmonton's perspective and from the Ducks side it is the missing link that gave them a cup so it is their best trade.

Deffinantly the Ryan Smyth trade to NY Islanders.
Why? because both teams lost out big time.
The Islanders got the worst end of the deal because Smyth left NY for Colorado.

I would have to say the Pronger trade that gave the ducks all the pieces for the stanley cup. The Oilers lost all their chances of going back to the big dance after they traded him for not that much in return. Thus oilers start havin a bad season and ryan symth ended up being traded. Then this season, they traded the rest of their guys, like their captain jason smith. One of the guys they got from the pronger trade lupul is already traded again to the flyers

Worst trade...well you did say last season so of course im gonna go back to Edm and trading Pronger to Anaheim since they won the cup and one of the players (Lupol) got traded away because he under preformed for a crappy Edm team
