I know my children and grandchildren like I know my palm. The elder son may be fast asleep(It is 2.00a.m.) The second would be ditto. All my three granddaughters would also be ditto. My daghter away in the South would also be doing nothing better. So would be her son who is recently married.
The eldest sone would soon get up around 4.00 and would sit down to draft some newspaper report. The second would be up around 5.00 and would be on his computer for the translation work he is doing. The elldlelst granddaughter in distant West would also be up around 5.00and would be doing some reading. Her MBA Final is round the corner. Her younger may get up around 6.00 and would be in a hurry to cat ch the college bus. The youngest would follow the same schedule. And I, sitting in the drawing room would be hearing all the sounds and be reassured that God is in the heaven and all is right with the world. My daughter would be up at about the same town and attend to her domestic duty as she has to leave for office around nine. Her son would be keeping time with her as he has also to leave for his BPO around the same time. All in all they all are under my watchful gaze through my specs which have slanted down a bit.

My son is at work - USPS get's off at 5:30 and will probably work until 7, knowing him.
My eldest - a daughter is at work where she runs a Employment Placement Firm and she will leave around 5:30 in time to pick up her boys and take them to soccer and hockey practice.
My middle child - a daughter is at work [dental tech]- gets off at 6, then will go to the Fire Station where she is a volunteer EMT - Her daughter will be home around 5 from high school and her after school activities and will probably start dinner.
My girls are VERY hands on with their children and they are not allowed to do the mall rat thingie without their mothers or other adult somewhere in the near vicinity. The 17 yr old is allowed a bit more freedom though she is in touch via cell while she is out...the boys who are 12 and 14 do not shop alone...I have never known them to not know where their kids are or what they are doing within reason of course.
I was the same way when my kids were young....and never apologized for it either......lol

Children. 51 yo daughter is working with computers somewhere. She's so smart at what she does, I sometimes think she was switched at birth. 47 yo daughter is cleaning someone's house. 41 yo daughter is working in Huntingtom Beach doing what she does best. She can take apart and put back together a computer without blinking an eye. One more who I suspect was switched at birth. 40 yo son is at the restaurant managing things. Then he'll do four hours of tennis and go to work at his second job at a sleep study clinic. Never can say he's lazy. Grandchildren=wow. Too many to count, but I know what they're doing too. Must be that good old Polish work ethic.

Step gkids all over the world, step ggkids no clue, some in school others harrasing their moms. My kids, One at work at the hospital, daughter at work running a car parts store--other son probably knocking around a golf ball prior to the snow flying. 17 year old grandone in school, 5 year old grand one in the big Kindergarten--drawing scarey monsters no doubt. Me on the duff and considering doing something with a few exploding oats!! ;0)

My older son lives in Oregon. He drives a forklift in a warehouse, has health benefits, has a cat who drives him nuts. He's happy. My younger son is running about town with $10 burning a hole in his pocket. My daughters are in a marching band competition about 10 miles away. My doggie is taking a nap, as are the cats and the bunny. The cow is chewing her cud. All is well - for the moment at least.

My daughter is out running around with the ESM (evil step mother) doing last minute things for her wedding, and my son is at the bank depositing his pay cheque, then going back to the office. The accountant cant grasp electronic deposit.
Then he is coming over here for a coffee and a short visit.
My cat is eating cantaloupe in the kitchen - after insisting his bowl be washed out. He is so fastidious.
The little guy is at his mothers, (Thanksgiving weekend) playing with his friends.
God is in heaven, and thats covers everyone who is important in my world.

My oldest daughter is learning how to do payroll today. That was one of the last things she needed to learn in her job as an employment consultant.
My youngest daughter is probably just finished her job for today, prepping 600 or so steaks for the steakhouse she works for. It's a good thing she likes massaging meat. :)
My oldest grandson is outside riding up and down on his bike. He just came in to tell me that the neighbour "fixed" his bike for him by raising the seat, tightening the handlebars and pumping up the tires. He was apprehensive at telling me because I had told him to wait until his Mom came home, and she could help him with that.
My middle grandson is probably packing up his things at his friend's house to come home right now. They were working on the props for a presentation due tomorrow. It involves making a bloody finger, so I am guessing it has something to do with either Halloween or health. I'm betting on the Halloween.
My youngest grandson just finished reading his book to me, and is watching the Disney channel right now. I sure wish he would learn to sit up properly on that couch though, instead of sprawling all over it as he does.
I know all this Granny, because we all live together here in my house. I am enjoying this multigenerational experience.

My 31 year old daughter is sailing down the Nile River between Luxor and Aswan, having the adventure of her life. I know where she is because she texted me from the boat this morning.
My 28 year old son will be on his knees putting tiles on the floor of a multi-story apartment building at this time of day.
And my 2 year old granddaughter is currently playing with her mother, who I just spoke to on the phone.
I think I know my children as well as anyone else. :)

As time goes by I, unfortunately, am sure that "You come into this world alone and You go out alone".
Everyone, including your children and grandchildren are invested in the present and themselves and what effects them at the moment.
