Its strange that you ask this question, because it is something that I always wonder. I do know a lot of people like that, I always fail to see why. Fortunately my boyfriend is not like that. I do not see it leading anywhere with your fella if that is how he is. Its his life, its up to him how he wants to spend his time, but I think You need more.

It's nothing to do with 'no interest in the world,' nor being 'stuck in a rut' ~ both are just justifications or excuses for not 'living.'
As for the 'Normalness' of this ....there ain't (as I've written many times) no such creature as 'Mr or Mrs Normal.' What they are, are 'averages,' which are gleaned from looking at the spectrum of human behaviours and, from the answers ~ via some maths ~ are brought down to numbers.
I've no idea of the percentages which are like your boyfriend or lives lived like your boyfriend, but he may well be one of a not insubstantial minority.
As for your question re 'your incompatibility with him,' you already know the answer ~ or you wouldn't be writing the question ....unless of course you choose to join him in his lethargy.
I take it this is skit based on a borrowed name..! and that the answer really doesn't count for much.
Sash.

He would probably care if he weren't in an (always?) altered state. Pot is a depressant - beer probably makes that feeling stronger. It stinks to be with somebody who is bringing you down. Keep caring about life and if you think he's worth it, tell him you need him to care too. If he chooses that dead lifestyle, move on and up - there are many great guys out there with passion.

He sounds apathetic to me.Try to get him to slow down or stop the drinking and smoking. My ex was like that and yet when he managed to stop for a few weeks he was great, happy, energetic full of good ideas great company, sadly it didn't last long.It depends on whether you think you can give up your dreams and ideas or just rub along together doing your own thing...only you know the answer to that.

It just sounds like the two of you are incompatible. Not only that, but your boyfriend sounds kind of boring to me!

If you have interests in traveling and he doesn't have any beyond his beer and pot, I would guess that you're incompatible.

Some people are naturally not interested, u just gotta find something that really interests >him<. Some thing don't interest people because they've seen it all before in the movies... find something new...

Maybe the mind-altering chemicals are affecting his behaviour. If he takes the substances you described above, then they are depressants. The depressants will cause lack of motivation and activity.
