How do people get into the negative numbers on their profile?

I noticed some people have -289 points (for example)

This happens when they continually ask questions but do not ask any to earn points. This can also be from getting violations which take 10 points off for each question or answer which is removed by Customer Care! This could be from a combination of both not answering and getting violations.

By asking too many questions and not answering enough.
