I am running out of time here and I am desperate. What historical event happened out of sheer pride anf honor and made the do'er suffer for it.

Check out the American Civil War. It was jacked up like that from the top to the bottom. They started a war because they didn't want to change. The soldiers fought family and friends because of different beliefs or just because of the state they lived in.

I suppose when Hitler attacked Russia creating a war on two fronts and probably ended up losing World War II, based on his pride that the Germans were the superior race and had a destiny... they thought they could take Russia before winter had fallen... they guessed wrong.

Hitler ended up committing suicide in a bunker a few years later...

How about the Trojan war? Thousands of dead for one woman. I'd say, that fits to your task.

Wait a moment, the "war of Jenkin's ear" (1739-41, and yes, the reason was really just the loss of one ear) between England and Spain is even better.
