I am about 38 weeks pregnant. I have yet to experience a painful contraction. I do experience som tightening in my stomach but I think it feels more like th baby pushing really hard outwards againt my belly. It only last about 5 seconds but occurs at a pretty regualr interval about ever 7 minutes. Could this be a contraction? I am so ready to get this baby out of me, please tell me someone can relate to these feelings

Probably the baby moving, its tight in there now, so hes trying to get comfy, maybe working on turning around, ready to come out. When you have a contraction you will KNOW it, its not a sensation, its an OH MY GOD what was that!! HEHE...Good luck!

They are contractions, but they're more of the Braxton Hicks variety. These are sort of pre-contractions. They do work, but they're not terribly effective.

You will know a contraction is true if:

you can't talk through it
moving and changing positions does not help
your stomach becomes hard for 30-90 seconds

Sometimes doctors can be wrong about your due date. Its just an estimate. Thats why some women go like 40 weeks. You may be off a week or so on the due date which means you might not start getting contractions until like week 39 or 40. Good luck!

I didn't have any contractions, braxton hicks, etc. - nothing major at all - with my first pregnancy until I went into actual labor (a couple of days after my actual due date). But I did have the tightening sensation....

Yep, that sounds like a braxton hicks contraction to me! Most of the time they just feel like a tightening and don't actually hurt.

I know what you mean about wanting it out that is for sure! Start walking as much as you can. I went 11 days past my due date with my son! You contractions sound like braxton hicks to me... but those still do prepare your body for the real thing. Good luck!

Massive electrocution? being struck by means of lightning? I am looking to feel of in which we might get a ninety% loss of life price from - but in addition whatever folks could bear in mind looking to do to themselves. It would not be sharks or whatever like that, you would inform me that each one day and I'd NEVER think the urge to dive in with Jaws to check out it, it should be whatever that *would* sound attractive. How approximately Moon landings? what are the survival figures for that? I listen that's the superb head-screw - even though I doubt there will likely be a large rush of folks copying that. Goodness is aware of I might no longer have indexed "consuming" as one of the crucial finest pleasures in existence, related with orgasm, that claims plenty extra approximately the speaker - I could have integrated the day I received my Roomba robotic vacuum and certainly not had to hoover once more even though.....

does your belly actually contract & get hard when you feel that?
if so, it sounds a lot like the description of Braxton Hicks contractions that my childbirth instructor gave us. and since they're *regular* it could very well be labor contractions! (since they are the same mechanism, basically)

That's probably just Braxton Hicks. The practice contractions are just your uterus warming up for the main event. When the real ones come, you'll know. :)
