I have a friend that is doing 90 days in county jail because he was charged with aggravated sexual assault on a child in Fort Bend County, Texas. Is there a way where I can get the case details... transcripts..etc? Will he have to register as a sex offender? He doesn't know that I know that is why i am asking here and not him. Thanks!

Transcripts are expensive. If he pled guilty, the transcript will be pretty short and mostly legal jargon anyway. If there was a trial, the transcripts will be much longer, include a ton of irrelevant information and much more expensive.

Check your local newspaper online. They usually run stories about convictions on page 99. If you google your friend's name, you should come up with something.

If that doesn't work, you can request documents from the court house but, again, it seems to be more trouble than it is worth. Ask your friend what happened. If he is not honest with you, he is not a friend and he is not dealing with what he did appropriately.

Whether he has to register as a sex offender or not depends on the exact crime for which he was convicted. A 90 day sentence would indicate to me that it was a misdemeanor but there is no way of knowing.

90 Days for aggravated sexual assault on a child...wow.

MOre than likely he will have to register as a sex offender.

You can try the local courthouse for information on the file, as most files are public, but since this has to do with an assault on a minor there may be a ban in place.

You can go to the court house to see the details of the case.
